Mrs Kate D. AbbeoDeputy Executive Officer[Corporate Affairs]

Kate is currently a Deputy Chief Executive [Finance and Administration] of Ghana Free Zones Authority [GFZA]. Before her elevation to the rank of a Deputy Chief Executive Officer, she served as an in-house Solicitor with the GFZA, a role that she has held since June 2009. From October 2004 to June 2009, she was GFZA’s Solicitor – Secretary, during this period she also held the role of the Acting Human Resource Manager. She has been with the GFZA for more than 12 years.  Her commitment to the GFZA has seen her accomplish a number of important achievements.

Notable amongst these achievements is the resolution of a major labor dispute that threatened to bring down a multi-million dollar investment at the Tema Export Processing Zone as well as the work she put in to win a Court of Appeal judgment; that gave the Board title to strategic landed assets in the Tema Community 21 area. Her strong work ethic, loyalty and drive to see things through to completion, supported her to make these remarkable contributions to the Authority.

Prior to joining the Authority in October 2004, Kate was a Senior Tax Inspector with the Internal Revenue Service (now a division within Ghana Revenue Authority) and also a legal consultant with Jonarth Chambers, a private law office in Accra. Shortly after completion of her professional law course at the Ghana Law School in 1996, Kate worked as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years at the Law Faculty of the University of Ghana, providing guidance to law students and supporting the senior lecturers with specialized research on various topics in the law. Her ability to work excellently in teams and independently when required has made her a key asset to the GFZA.

Kate has an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and an LLB from the University of Ghana.

She was called to the Ghana Bar after completing a two-year professional law course at the Ghana School of Law in 1996.  She is also a member of the International Bar Association [IBA] and regularly attends IBA’s annual conferences.
