The GFZA also has 2200 acres industrial enclave in the Western Region of Ghana, which is designated as the Sekondi Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The proximity of the Sekondi EPZ to the country’s second largest seaport with a direct road link is ideal for heavy industrial activities. The GFZA has signed an MOU with Hassan Investment (Gh) Ltd, a Chines Multinational Company as the developers of the Sekondi EPZ. Hassan Investment (Gh). Ltd in turn has signed an MOU with Bosai Mineral Group of China, Dazhon Iron & Steel Group and First Sunenergy LLC of US as its strategic anchor tenants.
The Sekondi EPZ is to be developed into an integrated industrial mineral processing zone. Environmental Impact Assessment and other feasibility studies are on-going.
