The Executive Secretary of the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC), Mr. Frank Agyekum, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Amb. (DR) Michael A.N.N.Y. Oquaye.
The visit allowed them to discuss collaborative issues that would boost the competitiveness of Ghana’s export under the Free Zones Regime and the critical role that the GITC can play in leveling the playing field for Ghana’s import competitive industrialization agenda.
Mr. Agyekum pledged that the GITC would support the GFZA with comprehensive research regarding trade contingency measures such as; anti-dumping, countervailing, safeguard measures, and customs dispute settlement.
On his part, Amb. (DR) Michael A.N.N.Y. Oquaye expressed his interest in collaborating with the GITC to ensure the GFZA agenda on value addition, export growth and job creation is enhanced to feed markets under ECOWAS, AfCFTA, EU, and the World at large.
In this vein, he added that the role of GITC as an arbitrator in ensuring fair competition for persons engaged in domestic production and international trade under the WTO and other World Trade System.
This collaboration is in tandem with H.E President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo’s vision to promote private sector growth and job creation.
